In our daily lives, we constantly encounter control systems, though we rarely notice them—such as the controlled falling we call walking. When attempting to automate these processes, the challenges quickly become apparent. This is why NCCR Automation conducts both theoretical and practical research to address these issues and improve our quality of life.

Bruno Vollenweider is a research assistant at the Control Engineering Laboratory at OST in Rapperswil, where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. He is fascinated by the interplay of various disciplines in control engineering—such as image processing, embedded systems, signal processing and many more—and by solving complex problems. What excites him most is the diversity of projects in this field, ranging from voltage regulators for FPGAs to measuring moisture in feed pellets. You never know what to expect in your next project!
