Dario Piga
NCCR Automation is a community of people dedicated to educating young researchers and advancing control for the benefit of our society.
Dario Piga is a Professor at SUPSI–IDSIA and the founder and head of the LEarning for Optimization and coNtrol (LEON) group at IDSIA. His research interests include system identification, control theory, and machine learning. He has served as Principal Investigator on several research projects in collaboration with international industry partners, focusing on the development of innovative AI-based and control systems for applications in manufacturing, transportation, and the biomedical and chemical sectors. He has served as a member of the Conference Editorial Board of the IEEE Control Systems Society (2018–2025) and the Conference Editorial Board of the European Control Association (2020–2025). He is currently an Associate Editor of Automatica and Chair of the IEEE-CSS Technical Committee on System Identification and Adaptive Control.
