David Azilagbetor is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Biomedical Ethics at the University of Basel, where he also earned his PhD in Biomedical Ethics from the Faculty of Medicine in 2026. From Autumn 2025 to Winter 2026, he was a visiting PhD student at the Technological Life Lab, School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford, UK. His doctoral work focused on animal experimentation, ethical authorisation, stakeholder and patient involvement, and transparent governance. 
His research explores ethical challenges at the intersection of science, medicine, technology, and society. He previously trained in Advanced Health Care (MSc from the Higher Institute of Health Sciences at Université Hassan 1er in Morocco) and as a Nurse Anaesthetist and intensivist (BSc from the Ministry of Health and the Higher Institute of Nursing Professions and Health Techniques in Rabat, Morocco).
